Kaziranga, with its diverse habitats ranging from floodplains and grasslands to evergreen forests is ideal for herbivores and therefore carnivores. Most visitors, predictably, come to see the ‘big five’- Rhino, elephant, tiger, swamp deer and buffalo.
Day 1: Guwahati to Nameri National Park (Driving time: 5 hours approximately). Arrive at Guwahati Airport and you will be transferred to Nameri National Park.
Day 2: Nameri. Today early morning at about 05.30 a.m, you will set to explore the park on foot (3.2kms ) with a guide/naturalist. Trek back to the camp. After having breakfast go for an exclusive rafting (mild rapids) trip on Jia – Bhoreli River, flowing along the National Park, for water birds. Return back to the camp. Overnight stay at Eco camp.
Nameri National Park (Assam): It is the third National Park of Assam. It is a Tiger Reserve and also a birders paradise with more than 376 species of birds. Here, one can go rafting (on mild rapids), hiking, bird watching and visit the Eco Task Force where one can learn their efforts of forestation and presentation.
Day 3: Nameri to Kaziranga National Park (Driving time: 3hours approximately). After breakfast, visit the Eco Task Force (optional). Thereafter, you will leave for Kaziranga National Park. On arrival, either you could relax or go for a short hike to a local village. Have a restful evening. Overnight stay.
Kaziranga National Park (Assam): Kaziranga is situated in the heart of Assam covering an area of 430 sq-kms. It is inhabited by world’s largest population of one horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers, bears and thousands of birds. In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment. You can enjoy Elephant rides, Jeep Safaris, hikes, visit a Tea Garden and experience the cultural vista as well.
Day 4: Kaziranga National Park. Enjoy an early morning elephant ride. After breakfast, enjoy a jeep safari. After lunch, visit a local village to explore around. Be entertained by some local music and dance in the evening. Overnight stay.
Day 5: Kaziranga- Gwahati. (230kms/ 5hours). On arrival, unwind and relax. Enjoy a traditional Assamese meal for dinner. Overnight stay.
Day 7: Guwahati- onward journey. You may visit the Kamakhya temple early morning incase your flight departure is not so early. After breakfast, drive to Guwahati Airport for onward journey.
